Argentina | Eolo Patagonia
- DETAILS, DETAILS -
TYPE: Boutique country lodge open from early October – late April.
ROOMS: There are 17 rooms with huge picture windows, offering sweeping views of the surrounding Anita Valley, Lago Argentino and Torres del Paine National Park. Spacious rooms and soothing décor make this a perfect spot to relax after the day’s activities. Luxurious bathrooms, complete with L’Occitaine amenities, feature a large soaking tub with waterfall showerhead.
POOL/GYM: There is a small heated pool, but no gym. Guests are invited to hike or bike the unique trails within the surrounding valley.
RESTAURANT: The intimate dining room features floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Lago Argentino. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are all served here although most lunches are enjoyed as picnics during daily excursions. At dinner the Executive Chef creates international offerings influenced by local flavors. During our stay, stand-out dishes included Patagonian red octopus and King Crab spinach lasagna. I highly recommend a Malbec Ice Wine to finish off the meal.
VIBE: Comfortable sophistication and luxurious isolation. Here the spectacular landscape provides the backdrop and newborn horses and calves put on the show.
BAR: Small and inviting space just off the dining room with a full bar and impressive list of local wines.
SPA: In addition to the heated pool, there are two separate treatment areas each with a private sauna. Massage services are available upon request.
WIFI: Complimentary throughout the property.
KIDS: Only children over age 12 are permitted.
LOCATION: Eolo is situated on nearly 10,000 acres, approximately 30 minutes from El Calafate on the way to Los Glaciares National Park. El Calafate Airport (FTE) is roughly a three-hour flight from Buenos Aires.
- A few things -
Perched on a hilltop overlooking the windswept Patagonian steppe, Eolo is a cozy Relais & Chateau property with phenomenal views from every window. Hotel rates include all meals, soft drinks, airport transfers and hosted activities (trekking to Mount Frias, mountain bike trail rides and bird watching). Not included in the rates, but a must-do while in the area is a visit to Los Glaciares National Park to see the mind-blowing Perito Moreno Glacier, considered the 8th wonder of the world. Here you may view the glacier in all its splendor from the boardwalks across the lake or put on your crampons for a mini-trek across the glacier itself. Why not do both?
