Paris | Le Royal Monceau
- DETAILS, DETAILS -
TYPE: Well-appointed Parisian residence.
ROOMS: Philippe Starck-designed. Bright and airy with heaps of natural light. Mirror-lined bathrooms with freestanding tubs and massive showers juxtapose nicely with the crisp colors of the plush rooms. Small touches, like the acoustic guitar in every room and the curated selection of coffee table books, create a homey feel.
POOL/GYM: Yes, both excellent. The largest swimming pool ever built in a Paris luxury hotel lies next to a very well-appointed gym.
RESTAURANT: La Cuisine serves Chef Hans Zahner's interpretation of classic French food, open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The restaurant has one of the most expansive buffet breakfasts I've ever seen; crepes, fresh breads, cheeses, jams, and hot dishes are all on offer. Il Carpaccio is the property's Michelin-starred restaurant, serving traditional Italian fare.
BAR: Le Bar Long is the perfect space for a pre-dinner cocktail, or just casually catching up with friends.
VIBE: Warm luxury and sophistication sans stuffiness.
SPA: Le Royal Monceau is home to Spa My Blend by Clarins, the first of its kind. The whitewashed space features a hammam, laconium room and sauna, and features a host of luxurious treatments. The 'My Royal Detox' program (a full day of relaxation, healthy meals, and quiet meditation), is perfect for those who may have overdosed on delicious croissants.
WIFI: Complimentary throughout.
KIDS: Of course! Le Petit Royal, the property's kids program, creates custom events based on exhibitions in Paris: an art workshop based on the works of Jeff Koons or movie screenings in the cinema. Sunday brunch is the perfect bookend for a family vacation.
LOCATION: Paris's 8th arrondissement, with the Arc de Triomphe just beyond. The street is quiet but well-located, and in close proximity to major train stations. Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) is 35 kilometers away.

- A few things -
Paris around Christmastime is absolutely magical, and a stay at Le Royal Monceau only adds to that magic. A Christmas tree, made solely of hanging ornaments, greets you as you walk into the lobby, and the property's warmth is a welcome respite from the cold Parisian air.
Rooms are spacious and bright, with ample closet space and custom art, creating a homey feeling that is easy to embrace. Your days should start in the hotel restaurant, La Cuisine, where an extensive breakfast awaits you before a full day of touring. While the hotel is conveniently located (and close to public transportation!), walking is the best way to soak up the city's charm.
Everything at Le Royal Monceau, from top to bottom, start to finish, is top-notch. The service is personalized without being overbearing; the hotel is luxurious without being stuffy. It makes for an incredibly memorable visit that will not soon leave your mind.
